Shipping Insurance Policy Statement
Shipping Insurance (Transit Coverage)
Newport Brushstrokes Fine Art (“NBFA,” “we,” “us”) ships artworks using professional packing methods and reputable carriers. Unless otherwise stated on the invoice, artworks shipped by NBFA are insured for their full purchase price while in transit from our facility to the delivery address provided at checkout, provided that:
-
the shipment is booked through NBFA or an NBFA-approved carrier,
-
the artwork is packed according to NBFA standards, and
-
delivery is accepted at the address without unauthorized forwarding or special handling changes.
What Transit Insurance Covers
Transit insurance is intended to cover physical loss or damage occurring during carrier transport before delivery is completed (as evidenced by carrier tracking and delivery confirmation). When a valid transit claim is confirmed, NBFA will, at its discretion:
-
arrange professional repair (when feasible),
-
offer a replacement (if available), or
-
issue a refund consistent with our Return Policy.
What Transit Insurance Does Not Cover
Transit insurance does not cover:
-
damage resulting from improper unpacking, installation, or handling after delivery,
-
damage caused by customer-arranged carriers not approved by NBFA,
-
shipments that are re-routed, forwarded, or held without NBFA authorization,
-
delivery issues due to incorrect/incomplete address, failed delivery attempts, refused delivery, or unattended drop-off instructions,
-
ordinary wear, minor variations in texture/color inherent to original or handmade works, or issues disclosed in the listing (e.g., “as-is,” “final sale,” pre-existing condition notes).
Inspection & Reporting Requirements (Time-Sensitive)
To preserve insurance eligibility, customers must:
-
inspect packaging and artwork immediately upon delivery, and
-
report any damage within 48 hours of delivery.
Please email [support@newportbrushstrokes.com] with:
-
Order number,
-
photos of the outer box/crate (all sides), inner packing materials, and damage, and
-
a brief description of what you observed.
Do not discard any packaging. Carriers often require packaging to be retained for inspection. Failure to provide photos and/or retain packaging may limit or void claim eligibility.
High-Value Shipments / Signature Requirements
For certain high-value works, NBFA may require signature on delivery, enhanced packing (e.g., crating), or specialty fine-art logistics. If signature service is declined by the customer, insurance coverage may be limited.
