Nobody can forget the tragic events that unfolded on April 6th, 2018. A community and a nation were devastated at the news of a tragic bus crash that killed 16 Humboldt Broncos hockey players, coaches and personnel, and injured 13 other passengers on board. Humboldt, Saskatchewan suffered an irrecoverable loss, but the community came together and started a GoFundMe with the goal of raising $5000.00 to help cover some of the expenses incurred by the family members of the victims. No one could have predicted that the GoFundMe would be the largest in national history reaching $15 million dollars by April 18th, 2018.

The City of Humboldt Bronco Memorial Project partnered with Newport Brushstrokes to auction off their unique, true to life painting of the team. Newport Brushstrokes is a Montreal-based online retailer, dealer, and auctioneer of fine art. They specialize in bringing photos to life by creating hand-painted oil on canvas recreations of any photo of any occasion.

This time, as Newport Brushstrokes does, they will be auctioning their unique, hand-painted photo-to-portrait canvas of the Broncos’ team photo (taken by professional photographer Clark Stork). A painting can tug at our hearts and minds in a way that a normal photo cannot. Those interested or those wishing to donate are encouraged to keep up to date on news and press announcements to stay in the know about the online charity auction.
