Earth Day Art with Newport Brushstrokes

This coming Sunday, April 22, is Earth Day. We should be conscientious of how we live on a daily basis to make the World, and our environment, a better place. Earth Day is a yearly opportunity to inform children, and educate adults more, about how we can help the planet.

The Beginning of Earth Day

“On April 22,1970, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. Thousands of colleges and universities organized protests against the deterioration of the environment. Groups that had been fighting against oil spills, polluting factories and power plants, raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, freeways, the loss of wilderness, and the extinction of wildlife suddenly realized they shared common values. Earth Day 1970 achieved a rare political alignment, enlisting support from Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor, city slickers and farmers, tycoons and labor leaders.” -via earthday.org

Newport Brushstrokes Offers Painting Reproductions

Not only does Newport Brushstrokes Fine Art Inc offer photo to oil canvas masterpieces, but they can also provide a hand painted reproduction of your favorite piece of art.

While I was looking at their website, I saw their Catalogues section. While I looked at the artwork I would like to have reproduced, I came across the work of Eugène Boudin.

“Eugène Boudin (July 12, 1824 – August 8, 1898) was one of the first French landscape painters to paint outdoors. Boudin was a marine painter, and expert in the rendering of all that goes upon the sea and along its shores.

His pastels, summary and economic, garnered the splendid eulogy of Baudelaire, and Corot who, gazing at his pictures, said to him, ‘You are the master of the sky.’” – via www.eugeneboudin.org

His artwork is beautiful, and it felt so appropriate to have found it coming so close to Earth Day. I have Newport Brushstrokes website to thank for my discovery of this artist.

Our planet offers so many naturally beautiful landscapes but having them turned into art is another way of showing our gratitude for what our Earth has to offer.
