‘Monkey Business’ is a large scale oil on canvas completed over a period of nine months. This painting represents the capstone piece for a larger body of work exhibited in New York at P.P.O.W. and White Columns in a show titled ‘Drawn & Quartered : A Salon of Subversive Images’ curated by Bill Arning. Created in her SoHo studio, this painting represents a high level of detail and rich color that characterizes each painting in this series. The artist has built a narrative around her childhood playthings that embraces animism as explored by Bruno Bettelheim in ‘The Uses of Enchantment.” Humor and satire playfully inform ‘Monkey Business.’
